Sunday, May 2, Christians in Jordan celebrated Easter.

April 20, Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh declared May 2 and 3 as official holidays for Christians on the occasion of Easter. This decision includes Christians working in ministries, official departments, institutions and public bodies.

On the occasion of Easter, the Council of Church Heads announced earlier that churches will be open from the morning until 11am.

The council stressed the need to adhere to all preventive measures, which include wearing face masks and social distancing.

Last year, Christians in Jordan were unable to celebrate Palm Sunday and Easter due to the lockdowns, curfews and other COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the government.
