Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor kicked off the sixteenth National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Week with the slogan 'Towards a Safe Summer'. This came to coincide with World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

The Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Directorate at the ministry Najah Abu Tafesh said this week comes in line with the ministry's efforts to raise awareness and knowledge about occupational safety and health.

She indicated that National OSH Week aims to improve occupational safety and health in all elements of production and across the whole country. It also aims to increase awareness among empoyees, employers and society as a whole about the importance of applying occupational health and safety standards.

She noted that the ministry is hosting many activities during these seven days, including the launch of an awareness-raising campaign on the importance of vaccination against COVID-19. Posters will be distributed encouraging workers to get vaccinated in the five most common languages among workers, which were created in cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Abu Tafish added that the week also includes a seminar at the Middle East University (MEU) entitled "The role of the Ministry of Labor in addressing the coronavirus pandemic."

She noted that as part of the efforts to make all Occupational Safety and Health Directorate services available online, an email has been allocated to receive applications for accreditation of occupational safety and health employees as well as medical personnel at [email protected].
