Khalil Attiyah: Government must commit to allowing Jordanians to perform Tarawih prayers in mosques

MP Eng. Khalil Attiyah, head of the Parliamentary Committee charged with following up on the recommendations of the House of Representatives related to the effects and repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, said that the Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, said Sunday that he would announce new decisions to the people Monday regarding COVID-19 measures.

Attiyah added, during his hosting of the Roya newscast Sunday, that the government is supposed to adhere to and reduce the hours of the ban so that citizens can perform Tarawih prayers in mosques.

Attiyah indicated that the government heard the representatives of the people rejecting the comprehensive and partial ban, especially in the blessed month of Ramadan, indicating that the time should allow people to attend Tarawih prayers.

Attiyah pointed out that the reason for the parliament’s meeting with the government earlier Sunday was because MPs heard news that the government’s decision would be to reduce the ban for an hour, which several MPs rejected.
Earlier, the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Sakher Dudin, said that the government hopes to reopen all sectors by July 1.
