Sunday, the spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic in Egypt published a picture of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi receiving the Corona vaccine.

Commenting on the picture, the spokesman said, "President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is receiving vaccination with the Coronavirus vaccine, as part of the national campaign to vaccinate citizens."

Earlier, the Egyptian President issued a decision declaring a state of emergency throughout the country for a period of three months, starting at 1am Sunday.

The decision, which was published by the Official Gazette in its Sunday edition, stated that it comes due to the security and health conditions that Egypt is experiencing.

Saturday, the Egyptian Ministry of Health recorded 912 new cases of Coronavirus and 39 deaths, compared to 884 infections and 45 deaths the previous day.

"The total number that was registered in Egypt with the new Coronavirus as of Saturday is 221,570, including 166,457 cases that have been cured, and 12,998 deaths," ministry spokesman Khaled Mujahid said in a statement.

The number of actual cases in Egypt is thought to be much higher due to limited testing.
