Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a 10-day official holiday in May across Russia in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus. This came in response to a request from the head of the Russian Health Agency.

Putin said during a televised interview, “If you think that this is necessary, I will sign the decree today."

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Russia confirmed 4,744,961 cases and 107,501 deaths.
