The media spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Lawrence Al-Majali, confirmed Monday that inspection teams detected desert locusts swarms in southern Amman areas (Sahab, Wadi Al-Seer, Al-Muqabalayn, and the outskirts of the airport road).

He explained that winds helped the swarms migrate from the desert areas, indicating that control measures are being worked on including specialized spraying mechanisms to eliminate them.

The ministry noted that these groups may be from previously sprayed areas, warning against touching locusts or collecting them in order to preserve the health and safety of individuals.

Friday, the Minister of Agriculture, Khalid Al-Hunaifat, announced the detection of swarms of locusts on a couple of farms in Al-Mudawara, adding that efforts were being made to eliminate them.
