Sunday histopathologist, Dr. Hussam Abu Farsakh, called on the government to cancel the total lockdown on Fridays and the overnight curfew hours.

Abu Farsakh wrote on Facebook Sunday, "Whoever sees the overcrowding in stores hours before the beginning of the curfew and on Thursday and Saturday, is fully aware of how this extends the life of the coronavirus."

He stressed that this would make the pandemic "worse and exacerbate the crisis."

"Stricter measures are not necessarily more beneficial to the coronavirus," he said.

March 28, the government announced the extension of the implementation of the current COVID-19 measures until May 15.

The current measures include the total lockdown on Fridays, the overnight curfew from 7pm until 6am and the closure of several sectors.
