Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Saturday that Russia is preparing to produce a new coronavirus vaccine in September.

"We will get another vaccine in the month of September," Putin said in a television interview with the Russian state-run Gamalia Institute.

Russia has so far produced three local vaccines, including Sputnik-V which has been registered for use in several countries across the globe.
