Palestinian Ambassador in Damascus passes away due to COVID-19

The Palestinian Embassy in Damascus mourned the Palestinian ambassador Mahmoud al-Khalidi Saturday, who died due to complications from his infection with the coronavirus.

In statements, the Palestinian embassy said that "Ambassador Khalidi died in Jaffa Hospital in Damascus. His burial ceremony will take place on Friday in the new martyrs cemetery in the Yarmouk camp in Damascus."

For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas mourned Al-Khalidi and extended his condolences to the family of the deceased.

Khalidi was one of the founders of the Fatah movement, and he began his political career in 1969.
