Inspection and control teams in the Directorate of Industry, Trade and Supply in Irbid issued Tuesday and Wednesday, eight violations against commercial establishments due to their non-compliance with the officially declared prices on items offered to customers.

The director of the Industry, Trade and Supply Directorate, Raed Al-Khasawneh, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) Wednesday, that Irbid markets in general are witnessing high traffic and congestions in terms of food supply purchases.

Khasawneh noted that the teams in the directorate work in coordination with the administrative rulers and security agencies to follow up the extent of compliance with the price caps for items such as fresh chicken, oils, vegetables and sugar.

He stressed that all food supplies are available in sufficient quantities in the market, and there is no need to rush and crowd to obtain them.

Khasawneh called on consumers to notify the Ministry of Industry, Supply and Trade if any unjustified increase in prices is witnessed in order for them to set a price cap.

He added that the prices of vegetable oils and sugar are within the specified price caps.

He said that the inspection and control teams are intensifying their tours of commercial establishments, to ensure the extent of their compliance and application of public safety standards.
