The owner of the 'Wasta Qadir' watch shop in Iraq said the watchmaker profession is in danger of dying out due to technological development.

He added that another issue is that people nowadays prefer to buy new watches instead of fixing broken ones.

One of the shop's regular customers Raad Abdullah said that he and the owner have known eachother for 50 years and that the owner is a master of the profession, which he inherited from his father.

The owner noted that even though technological advancement is a good thing, "it harms the handicrafts and inherited professions."

Another customer Musa al-Quraishi said “The state is supposed to support it, support this free profession, support good people...support loyal people."
