A source Sunday confirmed that the scarf worn by the Crown Prince, His Highness Al-Hussein during the celebration of the state's centenary is linked to the independence of Jordan, the centenary, and other specific celebrations.

The source’s response came following comments from several skeptics who circulated pictures of the Crown Prince while he was in the martyr’s monument, wearing this scarf, whereas His Highness appeared without the scarf when he visited the tombs of his forefathers accompanied by His Majesty and other princes from the royal family.

The source explained to the Hala News website of the Jordanian Armed Forces that His Majesty King Abdullah II also did not visit the tombs wearing the same attire worn to the celebratory events for Jordan's centenary due to the connection of the attire to specific occasions, which was also confirmed by the retired Major-General Odeh Al-Shdeifat.

He explained that, during the visit, His Majesty wore the throne attire, which he wears when delivering the speech to the throne in the National Assembly and on official occasions,  adding that the attire has historical connotations and symbolic significance to the Kingdom's history and the centenary of its founding.

Shdeifat confirmed that His Majesty changes clothes when visiting the tombs, due to its connection with the symbolism of the location and the occasion.

Regarding the attire of the Crown Prince, Shdeifat stressed that the official gendarme attire that Prince Al-Hussein wore along with the red scarf also is worn for specific occasions only. His Highness removed the scarf upon visiting the tombs.
