The governor of Irbid, Radwan Al-Atoum, said that the markets of the Irbid Governorate witnessed remarkable commercial activity on Saturday in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan.

He added that an integrated plan was developed by all concerned authorities in the governorate to ensure business could be conducted whilst abiding by health measures.

He pointed to the deployment of additional numbers of traffic controllers to regulate the traffic movement, especially in the commercial center and the city’s courtyard, which witnesses significant traffic jams.

He stressed that the health control teams are intensifying their rounds around the clock to follow up on the extent of compliance with defense orders related to controlling the spread of the coronavirus.

Al-Atoum called on citizens to adhere to health requirements and defense orders in order to preserve their health and safety, and to contribute to confronting the coronavirus and limiting its spread.

He called on citizens to stay away from crowded places, stressing that all supplies and Ramadan goods are available in sufficient quantities, and there is no need to rush to buy them.

The Director of Health and Public Safety at Greater Irbid Municipality, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Shayab, said that the control teams are intensifying their campaigns against facilities and street vendors, and that there will be more than one shift working throughout the day to monitor the 5,000 establishments.
