The head of the Respiratory Department at Al-Shifa hospital Shady Awad said "We have spoken in the past and warned many times that there will be a large number of cases during the month of March and April and a (new) wave. The main reason is that the country was opened and gatherings took place, which lead to the spread of the virus."

He added that "The new measures taken were a curfew starting at 9 pm, as well as [lockdown] on Friday and Saturday. However, this is not sufficient as long as the situation is not strictly monitored."
