Wednesday, His Majesty King Abdullah II received the President of European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and discussed cooperation between Jordan and the European Union (EU) in various fields, in addition to the latest regional and international developments.
His Majesty stressed, during the meeting, the strength of relations and partnership between Jordan and the European Union, and keenness to expand cooperation in various fields.
The King expressed his appreciation for the support of the European Union to Jordan, especially in its response to the refugee crisis.
Additionally, they discussed ways to coordinate efforts to confront the coronavirus crisis. His Majesty stressed the importance of continuing cooperation to address the humanitarian and economic impacts of the pandemic, and the need to provide vaccines for all people, in a way that contributes to protecting their health.
In turn, Von der Leyen expressed the EU's full support to His Majesty King Abdullah II.
She praised the Kingdom's role in hosting refugees, stressing the EU’s commitment to provide the necessary support in this field.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the King’s Policy Advisor, the EU Ambassador to Jordan, and the delegation accompanying the President of the European Commission.
