Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and UN Special Envoy for Syria Gere Pederson spoke on the phone to discuss the importance of strengthening efforts to find a political solution for the Syrian crisis

The aim is to meet the needs of the Syrian people including putting an end to killing and destruction, defeating terrorism, restoring Syria's security and stability, preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity, ending foreign interference in Syria's internal affairs, and allow voluntary return for refugees.

Safadi expressed Jordan's support for the United Nations' efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Resolution 2254, as well as push Syrian parties towards achieving political progress, which includes constitutional committee meetings.

Safadi stressed that while we seek progress in terms of a political solutions to the crisis, practical steps must be taken to improve the living conditions of people in various Syrian regions, which will contribute to achieving stability in the country.

Safadi stressed the importance of the international community continuing to provide the necessary support needed in host countries and communities, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

He added that it is necessary to build on what was agreed upon at the Fifth Brussels Conference on Aid to support the Future of Syria and the Region and strengthen efforts to obtain pledges and financial aid.
