Friday, finance minister Dr. Muhammad Al-Ississ discussed, during a phone call with his American counterpart Janet Yellen, the latest economic developments around the globe.

He praised the continuous support provided by the United States of America to Jordan, and reviewed the measures taken by the government to address the pandemic and reduce its health and economic costs.

He also discussed the most prominent features of the structural reforms program that the government is committed to in order to achieve economic recovery.

Al-Ississ indicated that "high unemployment rates are the biggest concern of the government, and we must continue to implement measures that will accelerate growth and reduce business costs on the private sector to create more jobs."

In turn, Yellen referred to the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries, and her aspiration to come together for common goals, including economic recovery from the pandemic. 

She stressed the importance of continuing the strong relationship between the United States and Jordan, including supporting economic development in Jordan and reform efforts.
