Palestine confirms 16 deaths and 2,248 new coronavirus cases

Palestine recorded 16 deaths and 2,248 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, announced the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila Friday.

The new deaths involved 14 in the West Bank and two in Gaza Strip.

The recovery rate in Palestine stands at 89.5 percent, while the active case rate is 9.4 percent and the death rate is 1.1 percent.

The new coronavirus cases included 125 in Tulkarm; 33 in Salfit; 271 in Hebron; 232 in Nablus; 160 in Jenin; 34 in Qalqilya; 56 in Bethlehem; 31 in Tubas; 13 in Jericho and al-Aghwar; 14 in the suburbs of Jerusalem; 94 in Ramallah and al-Bireh; and 1,185 in Gaza Strip.

The recovery cases included 143 in Tulkarm 44 in Salfit; 370 in Hebron; 286 in Nablus; 261 in Jenin; 77 in Qalqilya; 106 in Bethlehem; 30 in Tubas; 11 in Jericho and al-Aghwar; 44 in the suburbs of Jerusalem; 103 in Ramallah and al-Bireh; and 234 in Gaza Strip.

Currently, 204 people are in the Intensive Care Unit and 63 are on ventilators.

A total of 9,177 PCR tests were conducted.
