Nearly 100,000 workers benefit from SSC's Estidama program: Labor Minister

Wednesday, Labor Minister Youssef al-Shamali said the new measures aim to alleviate the repercussions of the coronavirus crisis and reduce the high unemployment rates that increased due to the pandemic.

He added that the Social Security Corporation's (SSC) 'Estidama' program was designed to ensure the continuity of work in the sectors that were severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic. He pointed out that this program concerns the sectors that are still closed and those most affected by the pandemic. He added that approximately 100,000 workers in Jordan have benefited from the program.

Shamali pointed out that the economic impact of the pandemic will continue even if the coronvirus crisis ends in 2021. He noted that it is not the Ministry of Labor's responsibility to find jobs but to create the environment for that.
