The Russian news agency TASS Monday announced that the Russian Ministry of Health has received registration documents for the Sputnik Light vaccine, which is a single-dose version of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine.

An aide to the Russian Health Minister Alexei Kuznetsov said the ministry received the Sputnik Light dossier and "will soon examine the vaccine’s quality, safety and efficacy. A decision will be taken afterwards."

Last week, Russia announced that clinical trials are ongoing for a rapid vaccine, which was described as a 'temporary solution' and could help countries with high COVID-19 infection rates to start vaccinating people.

However, it was confirmed that the Sputnik-V vaccine will remain the main vaccine used in Russia.
