GAM begins using newly trademarked packaging for poultry products

Beginning Monday, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will start using new branded packaging bags for slaughterhouse products (i.e poultry), to keep pace with the Jordanian market changes and in line with the requirements of the competition, and to prevent counterfeiting.

The director of the slaughterhouse, Shadi Al-Othman, said in a press statement Sunday, that the new packaging is distinguished by a duly registered private trademark that takes into account the identity of Amman, and with high-quality technical specifications, manufactured from polyethylene, with a density designed to preserve the product.

The packaging and trademark renewal is in line with the product excellence approach, which consists of healthy, vet-examined poultry meat by extensively experienced medical staff, and a single sterilization ozone treatment for poultry.

Ozone as an air treatment is used in the poultry industry, from the storage and incubation of eggs, to the breeding of healthy birds, as well as for effective processing, storage and transport of poultry and meat products. Ozonated water is used to wash and sterilize meat and equipment.

Othman pointed out that this step comes as a continuation of the methodology of modernization and development adopted by the GAM in providing health products to the community.

He added that the process of changing the bags was preceded by a series of developments to the slaughterhouse infrastructure, which included thermal insulation of refrigerating facilities and the installation of new machines for production and processing lines.

The start of using the new bags coincides with the GAM's preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
