Specialist in medical microbes and clinical immunology, Dr. Luay Abu Qatousa, Wednesday confirmed that the noticeable and increasing rise in the epidemiological curve, in terms of hospital admissions, high infection rates and deaths, requires a comprehensive lockdown.

Abu Qatusa added during his hosting of the Roya news bulletin that the comprehensive lockdown is the last option for countries to control the epidemic curve, but certain situations, like the one in Jordan, may require it.

Abu Qatusa said the American Epidemic Control Center has proven that Jordan has entered the red zone, the highest level of severity that a country can be classified within, pointing out that this indicator requires restricting the movement of citizens, closing facilities and limiting travel to the most necessary cases.

He added that the current situation also necessitates establishing field hospitals for corona patients, and accelerating the pace of the vaccination campaign.

Abu Qatusa said that the treatment protocol used in Jordan must be reviewed.
