The spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health Kamal Al-Shakhra said that the ministry is set to receive 38,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and 24,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Wednesday and Thursday.

Shakhra explained in a press statement that the Ministry of Health will start vaccinating people against COVID-19 Sunday, March 21.

However, Shakhra stressed that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be stored until it is proven efficacy from the World Health Organization (WHO) after a number of countries suspended the use of the vaccine following announcements indicating that several individuals suffered from blood clots shortly after receiving it.

Notably, a teacher in Italy died shortly after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.
