The head of the National Center for Epidemics and Infectious Diseases Firas Hawari Monday said Jordan exceeded the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases in comparison to the first wave.

He said hospitals in Jordan are receiving COVID-19 patients of young ages during this wave of the pandemic. He added that hospital occupancy rates for coronavirus patients are high, due to the increasing number of daily hospital admissions for treatment.

Hawari noted that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and patients who receive it are being monitored.

Hawari called on citizens to adhere to preventive measures and register for vaccination, to reduce the pressure put on healthcare workers and prevent the collapse of the Jordanian health sector.
