The Jordan Armed Forces Sunday constructed a mobile field hospital in the Karak Governmental Hospital to receive COVID-19 patients and increase the hospital's isolation bed capacity.

The Karak Health Affairs Director Ayman Tarawneh said the field hospital has been equipped with all the necessary medical equipment, including 14 regular beds and four ICU beds.

The director of the hospital Muath Maaytah said the field hospital, which was established following royal directives, was constructed at dawn Sunday to enhance the services of the government hospital, especially for coronavirus patients.

The field hospital will begin receiving patients upon completion.

A total of 24 beds out of 44 at the hospital are currently occupied, meaning the current occupancy rate stands at nearly 55 percent and the hospital has 10 ventilators.

Precautionary measures have been put in place at the hospital, such as cancelling scheduled surgeries and receiving patients at half capacity, while keeping the emergency clinic open to the public.

Maaytah called on citizens to abide by health measures and defense orders for their safety.
