Saturday, Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat announced that he has handed in his resignation to the Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh in the wake of the Al-Hussein New Salt Hospital incident which left six dead.

Obeidat declared that he bears a moral responsibility towards the incident.

"I take moral responsibility for the oxygen supply shortage in the New Salt Hospital."

According to the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Sakher Dudin, the resignation of the minister came by royal order.

Earlier Saturday, a technical defect at the hospital caused patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) to be cut off from oxygen. 

The PM has ordered a "transparent" investigation to be launched to determine the cause of the matter.
