A Palestinian virology professor Kamal Dhamidi announced Thursday the discovery of a Palestinian mutation of the coronavirus about three or four months ago.

Dhamidi added that he conducted research on the mutation, only to discover that it had spread to 11 other countries.

He added, "This mutation was discovered in Qalqilya [the northern West Bank] by accident."

He explained that the Israeli Occupation conducted several studies on the Palestinian strain, noting that it was discovered by the Israeli Occupation, the US and several European countries, according to what was reported by the Ramallah News website.

"The discovery of mutations is not frightening, and we should not feel panicky or anxious, given that there are mutations that may be more fatal and faster in transmission, such as the British strain," Dhamidi said.

He called on the competent authorities to limit the spread of the virus so that it does not mutate further

Daddidi assured that all available vaccines have the ability to resist all the coronavirus mutations.
