Wednesday marks the one year anniversary of the World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration of the coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic.
On March 11, 2020, WHO's Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said "WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we're deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction."
"We have therefore made the assessment that Covid-19 can be characterised as a pandemic."
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the world has recorded 118,257,673 coronavirus cases and 2,624,252 deaths.
