The General Director of King Abdullah University Hospital, Muhammad Al-Ghazu, announced the suspension of work in outpatient clinics, with the exception of clinics for treatment, phototherapy, ophthalmic procedures and surgery, and radiology starting Thursday until further notice.

Additionally, he noted that all prescheduled operations will stop, with the exception of emergency surgeries and tumor operations, beginning Sunday until further notice.

Notably, all chemotherapy, heart, and kidney patients, and childbirths will continue receiving the required treatments or surgeries.

Ghazu told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the decision was taken in order to provide more beds for patients infected with the coronavirus;  to protect current patients and medical staff; and to strengthen preventive measures as COVID-19 cases surge in the Kingdom.
