Monday, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health for Epidemiological Affairs and the Head of the Coronavirus Portfolio Wael Al Hayajneh has submitted his resignation, announced the Minister of State for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson for the government Sakher Dudin.

Hayajneh said his resignation, which will come into effect April 1, has nothing to do with the COVID-19 situation in Jordan.

Hayajneh told Roya that his contract with the Ministry of Health as the head of the coronavirus portfolio ends on this month and he has other commitments with American University which starts at the beginning of next month. He pointed out that he had clarified the situation with Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh before accepting the position.

Dudin explained in a statement to Roya that Hayajneh resigned to continue studies at an American university.

The resignation will come into effect April 1.

Earlier Monday, a Royal Decree was issued approving the resignation of the Minister of Labor Maan Mardi Abdullah Al-Qatamin effective immediately.

Shortly after, another Royal Decree was issued approving the assignment of the Minister of Social Development Ayman Riyadh Saeed Al-Mufleh to manage the Ministry of Labor position as of March 8.

The Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh announced Sunday changes to the cabinet of ministers. Afterward, a Royal Decree was issued approving the PM's decision.
