Monday, the National Committee for Epidemics discussed the possibility of imposing a smart lockdown for a period of one or two weeks across Jordan, a source told Hala Akhbar.

The source indicated that this could happen if the number of coronavirus cases remain high.

According to the source, during the smart lockdown, shops and markets will remain open but citizens will have to travel by foot.

Additionally, during the committee's meeting they discussed the possibility of imposing a 48-hour total lockdown on Fridays and Saturdays. The committee also studied preventing movement from 7pm until 7am.

The source lastly added that the committee is monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom, and in light of this, restrictions will be imposed.

Feb. 24, the government announced the reimposition of Friday lockdowns in Jordan, in addition to new curfew hours, in an effort to halt the sudden jump in coronavirus numbers.
