Friday, the Health Education and Information Directorate at the Ministry of Health called on Jordanians not to shop and stock up on supplies ahead of the Friday total lockdown.

"It is one day only."

They emphasized that the goal of the lockdown is to reduce the number of coronavirus cases. They asked residents and citizens to comply with the set measures.

"Let us contribute together to achieve this."

Traffic jams and busy pavements were witnessed around markets and in several roads and markets throughout the governorates Thursday night, prior to the Friday lockdown which begins at 9pm for establishments and 10pm for citizens, until 6am Saturday morning.

The Deputy Prime Minister and the acting Interior Minister, Tawfiq Krishan, stressed the need for full commitment to implementing the defense orders, especially during the total lockdown on Friday and the introduction of new restrictions to tackle the pandemic.

Thursday, Jordan recorded 40 deaths and 5,733 and new coronavirus infections, bringing the number of deaths to 4,833, and infections to 413,350. The number of active cases now stands at 51,869 in the Kingdom.
