Nine Turkish soldiers were killed and four were wounded Thursday, when a helicopter they were traveling in crashed in southeastern Turkey. Shortly after, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the incident was accidental.

In statements, the ministry said that "nine heroic soldiers were killed and four wounded in this incident," explaining that it occurred in Bitlis, eastern Turkey.

No information was provided about the injured soldiers.
