9,000 mutated COVID-19 cases confirmed in Jordan since December: Faraya

Tuesday, the Director of the Coronavirus Crisis Cell, Mazen Al-Faraya announced that since the discovery of mutated COVID-19 strains in Jordan, a total of 9,000 cases of these strains have been confirmed, including 6,000 active cases.

He indicated that the confirmed infections of mutated strains have been recorded among people in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa and Aqaba.

Regarding the Holy Month of Ramadan, Faraya told Hayat FM that the government has not decided whether new COVID-19 measures will be imposed or not. However, he stressed that taking any decision depends on the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom.

He lastly talked about the arrival of coronavirus vaccines in the Kingdom. He expects the arrival of 300,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine during this month.

Monday, 33,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Jordan, he said.

Notably, earlier Monday, the JFDA approved the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for emergency use.
