Monday, Syria’s health ministry announced that it had started administering COVID-19 vaccinations to medical staff working on the front lines.

The health ministry did not mention which type of vaccine Syria had received or the quantity.

Last week, Syria said it had received vaccinations from a 'friendly country' that it did not name.

Since the start of the pandemic, Syria has confirmed 15,588 coronavirus cases and 1,027 deaths.
