The Governor of Irbid Radwan al-Etoum Friday said a total of 5,913 individuals and 287 establishments were fined for defense order violations, since the beginning of 2021. A total of 53 facilities have been shut down for non-compliance with health and safety measures.

He said the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) in the North Region carried out 1,944 inspections since the beginning of the year, during which 4,226 kg of solid foods, and 3,375 liters of liquids were discarded. A total of 1,835 official warnings were issued and 76 establishments were shut down.

Etoum pointed out that the Friday Market has been banned from operating until further notice, in order to prevent further spreading of COVID-19. He noted that relevant supervisory authorities are conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety measures.

Since the beginning of 2021, and based on defense orders, many public places were shut down in Irbid including parks, swimming pools, event halls, shopping centers, stadiums, cinemas, schools.

He reiterated the need to abide by precautionary measures including wearing face masks, social distancing and avoiding large gatherings.
