Muslim worshippers headed to mosques for Friday Prayer amid the first Friday lockdown since Jan. 3.

The Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Muhammad al-Khalaileh announced Thursday that Muslim worshippers would be allowed to go to Friday prayer on foot between 11:40am until 12:40pm on Feb. 26.

Strict health and safety measures were imposed by the government in mosques to prevent further spreading of COVID-19. Citizens are allowed one hour to make their way to the nearest mosque on foot.

The government continues to stress the need to abide by precautionary measures including wearing face masks, social distancing and using a personal prayer mat.
