The floods that swept through entire neighborhoods in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, claimed the lives of five people, including a 67-year-old man and four children, according to Indonesian authorities Sunday.

The city was struck by torrential rains over the weekend, which flooded dozens of major roads and forced thousands of people to rush to emergency shelters. A mssive clean-up operation is underway in the Indonesian city of Beksai, on the eastern border of Jakarta following the floods.
