New Zealand begins national COVID-19 vaccination campaign

Saturday, New Zealand began its national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, using the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine.

A total of 12,000 are people expected to receive the first jab of the vaccine.

Friday, around 30 vaccinators received their jabs and Saturday the first 70 border workers received the vaccine. The wider rollout is set to begin Monday.

On Feb. 15, the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine arrived in New Zealand, containing around 60,000 doses, announced Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, New Zealand confirmed 2,350 coronavirus cases and 26 deaths.
