About two million Americans remained without electricity Thursday morning in the oil-rich state of Texas, after a strong cold wave that spread over large areas in the United States.

The polar front is expected to continue until the end of the week.

The United States National Weather Service confirmed on Wednesday that 100 million Americans in the central region of the country are living under snowstorms of varying severity.

The mass of cold air coming from the Arctic has begun to recede, according to meteorologists, but low temperatures will remain "below normal by 11 to 19.5 degrees Celsius" in the central part of the United States, according to meteorologists.

Jeff Zents, coordinator of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic at the White House, confirmed that the cold weather affected the vaccination campaign against the background of the closure of some vaccination centers.

President Joe Biden postponed a visit scheduled for Thursday to a Pfizer factory that produces vaccines in Kalamazoo, Michigan, until Friday, due to the weather.

As of Wednesday evening, 2.3 million households and businesses in Texas were without electricity, according to the Power Outage website.
