UAE vaccinates more than 40 percent of population

The United Arab Emirates has vaccinated 40.48 percent of its population against COVID-19, according to UAE's National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority. According to the latest data, the UAE has a population of more than 9.9 million.

A total of five million doses have been administered to citizens and residents of the UAE, with some of them receiving two doses.

On Dec. 12, the UAE began its national COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The UAE will continue to inoculate people until December 2021, as the government aims to reach to a point where 70 percent of the population is vaccinated. 

The country has so far approved the Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinopharm vaccines for use.
