Monday, the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine arrived in New Zealand, containing around 60,000 doses, announced Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
Sunday, authorities announced that a three-day lockdown will be imposed across New Zealand’s largest city Auckland starting Monday. This came after three family members were found to be infected with COVID-19 in the North Island city.
This is the country’s first lockdown in six months.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, New Zealand confirmed a total of 2,336 cases and 25 deaths.
