Sunday, sources told Roya that the Ministry of Health and the National Epidemics Committee have called for a meeting to discuss the latest developments in the pandemic situation, in the wake of the high rates of positive PCR tests in Jordan which reached 9.3 percent.

This percentage may force the government to tighten COVID-19 related restricitions, which Assistant Secretary-General for Health Affairs at the ministry Ghazi Sharkas confirmed in previous statements to Roya Saturday.

Sharkas stressed that if the percentage of positive PCR tests reached eight percent, then the government will resort to reviewing procedures, including the reimposition of the total lockdown on Friday.

Sharkas added that the Epidemics Committee met Saturday, and analyzed the health situation, the number of recorded cases per day, deaths, the percentage of positive PCR tests, hospital occupancy rates, ICU admissions, and the use of ventilators.

No information has been provided on Saturday's meeting.

Sunday, the Kingdom recorded 11 deaths and 2,447 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total deaths and cases to 4,455 and 347,250 respectively.
