Over 15 million individuals received COVID-19 vaccine in Britain

Sunday, the UK's Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that over 15 million people have received a coronavirus vaccine in Britain, therefore contributing th achieving the government's goal of vaccinating the most vulnerable groups by mid-February.

"Today we crossed an important threshold in the UK's national vaccination program," Johnson said on Twitter.

In turn, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said in a tweet, "Great news: More than 15 million people have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID."

Britain was the first country to begin a national vaccination campaign starting Dec. 8.  The vaccination program prioritized individuals over 80, care home workers, medical personnel and social care staff.
