Assistant Secretary-General for Health Affairs, Dr. Ghazi Sharkas, said Saturday that if the percentage of positive PCR tests reaches eight percent, officials will be forced to rexamine current health measures and possibly impose or reimpose certain measures.

Sharkas said during Roya's Nabd Al-Balad that the epidemiology committee met on Saturday, and studied the epidemiological situation; the number of cases recorded per day; deaths and the percentage of positive examinations; hospital occupancy and entry to the intensive care department; isolation departments and artificial respirators.

Sharkas emphasized that there is "pressure" on the epidemiological curve, indicating that the percentage of positive examinations last week was five percent or less, and that there were about 2000 more cases this week than last week.

Saturday, the positive PCR percentage rate was 6.34 percent.
