Thursday, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with the Water Authority (Miyahuna) announced that water pumping from several water sources, particularly the Zara Ma'in station will occur due to the turbidity rates of some water sources being high in several areas.

Turbidity is a measure of the degree to which the water loses its transparency due to the presence of suspended particulates. The more total suspended solids in the water, the murkier it seems and the higher the turbidity. Turbidity is considered as a good measure of the quality of water.

According to the ministry, this will reduce the quantities of treated water for drinking purposes in areas of Amman, Zarqa and Madaba.

The two authorities said that they will monitor the situation in these areas, as they will be partially affected due to the termination of pumping water from some sources, including Al-Muwaqqar, Al-Rajm Al-Shami, Abu Alanda, Al-Yadouda, Al-Mughairat, Salihiyat Al-Abid, Al-Firdous Housing, Giza District, Khaled Village and Abu Sayyah West Zarqa regions.

The ministry confirmed that they will make all possible efforts to resume pumping and restore matters to normal in these areas, according to the pre-prepared role as soon as the turbidity decreases, appealing to everyone to understand that the circumstances are beyond their control.
