During radio statements on Hayat FM Thursday, the Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat confirmed that there has been no decision made for the government to lengthen the current curfew or impose a Friday total lockdown.

Obeidat added that the Ministry of Health is reviewing the pandemic situation on a continuous basis, indicating that the government reviews the health situation in the Kingdom every two to three weeks.

He noted that the government is also monitoring the impact of the reopening of schools and various sectors.

"The government is taking the issue [of the rise in COVID-19 cases] very seriously," said Obeidat, adding that the reasons behind the surge of infections are being investigated in order to make the appropriate decisions.

Obeidat pointed out that there are efforts by the ministry to provide greater quantities of COVID-19 vaccines in the coming weeks, adding that he expects the AstraZeneca vaccine to arrive in Jordan by the end of February, or early March. All vaccines will arrive in Jordan by the end of 2021.

He added, "The Ministry of Health will give [vaccination] priority to teachers when more quantities are available."
