Thursday, images surfaced on social media of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project bridges vandalized on the Jordan University Street area in Amman.

Pictures showed graffiti and smashing glass from one of the pedestrian footpaths, which protects passerbys from the danger of falling off the bridge.

Activists denounced the attack, wondering the reason behind the attack on a vital transport project that has not yet been completed.

Nov. 14, the Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kasabi said he expected the ministry to complete the BRT project by the end of 2021.

The BRT project will be a method of public transport which is significantly quicker than alternative public modes of transport, with its own lane in roads.

According to the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), the aim of the project is to integrate the public transport system and the private sector.
