At least 26 members of the Syrian military forces were killed Monday in an attack launched by members of Daesh in eastern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Observatory stated that Daesh members operating in the Syrian Badia carried out an ambush Monday morning by targeting a military convoy in the desert of Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
After the ambush, violent clashes erupted between the two parties. Head of the Observatory Rami Abdel Rahman said at least seven of the 26 killed were Syrian troops, while the remaining casualties were mostly Syrian militia fighters.
He added that at least 11 Daesh militants were also killed.
