The Director of the Education Management at the Ministry of Education Sami Mahasis said what is being circulated on social media that students will go to school for two weeks and then return to distance learning is 'unfounded.'

Mahasis stressed the need to abide by health and safety measures set by the ministry to ensure students' safety as they return to schools. He added that the Accountability Committee conducted 3,991 visits to public schools and 1,437 visits to private schools, all of which are ready to receive students.

He pointed out that one teacher in every school has been trained to respond in the case that a COVID-19 infection is confirmed among students or teachers. All Jordan's schools are in contact with the operations room at the ministry and the relevant education directorate, he added.

The ministry will work on providing psychological and social support for the safe return of students to schools, by broadcasting awareness messages in the morning.
